1. The Secondary School in Rhodes – Venetoklion will implement the Erasmus+ program from 1-3-2024 to 31-1-2025 with the code “2023-2-PL01-KA210-SCH-000179047” and the title “Mathematicians in Europe”, with the coordinating school “Zespol Szkol No. 2 im. K.K. Baczyńskiego, Ełk” from Poland and a partner of the school “Burdur Mesleki ve Teknik Anadolu Lisesi” from Turkey. The “program coordinator” and “contact person” is the school’s mathematician Konstantinos Malliakas.
The program includes three trips: to Rhodes on April 2-7, 2024, to Ełk in Poland on September 16-21, 2024 and to Burdur in Turkey on October 21-26, 2024. The official language of the program is
English.
As part of the program, the school’s mathematicians, in cooperation with the school management, conducted and recorded mathematics lessons in English, created archives and articles related to the Greek education system and the analytical mathematics curriculum, created lesson plans in which they were presented on April 2-7 at the school during the first mobility of the program.
After getting to know the participants and visiting the school, mathematicians from three schools discussed, based on these tasks, the mathematics examination system, the way of teaching the mathematics core curriculum, the mathematical culture and customs of each country.
They exchanged views, proposed innovative methods for teaching various mathematical subjects and cross-curricular applications in the context of “STEM” and laid the foundations for the continuation and implementation of the program by organizing the next steps, which include the posting of materials and lesson plans on the website Website created for this program, including a tournament mathematics for students with one live and two online mathematics competitions, as well as a competition for students to make a poster related to mathematics and this program.
Similar activities will take place as part of the other two mobilities of the program in Ełk, Poland, from September 16-21, 2024, and in Burdur, Turkey, from October 21-26, 2024.
